A Princes Town man who was tricked in­to be­liev­ing po­lice of­fi­cers were bang­ing on his door was robbed of $50,000 ear­ly this morn­ing.

Ini­tial re­ports stat­ed that around 1:30 am, the 52-year-old man, a PH dri­ver, was awok­en by bang­ing on the front door at his Nia­math Trace, Iere vil­lage home.

He heard male voic­es shout­ing, "po­lice!"

Think­ing they were gen­uine po­lice of­fi­cers, he opened the door. In­stead, he was con­front­ed by four ban­dits dressed in dark-col­ored cloth­ing. They robbed him of $50,000, a $1,500 cell­phone and ten gold rings.
