A Woodbrook man who went to sell an iPhone 15 to someone he met on Facebook Market Place, was duped after receiving a sealed envelope filled with one-dollar bills.
The 32-year-old victim—who lives at One Woodbrook Place, St James—arranged the transaction on the compound of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
Both parties met in the hospital’s carpark around 5 pm on January 24, to transact the sale of the phone, which was valued at TT $5,000.
It was reported that as the victim handed the phone to the buyer, he handed over a small brown envelope before running off with the phone.
Upon checking the envelope, the victim discovered it contained 64 one-dollar bills.
He later reported the matter to the police and enquiries are continuing.
