Res­i­dents of Sum Sum Hill, Clax­ton Bay, hid in their homes as a gun­fire rang out, leav­ing a man dead on Fri­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve Paul Kirk, 33, of St. John’s Road, Clax­ton Bay, was shot mul­ti­ple times at point-blank range.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that Kirk, 33, was lim­ing at Sum Sum Hill when he was am­bushed around 10:35 pm on Fri­day.

Res­i­dent Andy Nes­bitt told po­lice he was at home when the gun­shots rang out. When Nes­bitt made checks, he saw Kirk ly­ing mo­tion­less at the back of his house. Kirk was dressed in a white and gold-coloured shirt and three-quar­ter white pants.  A pair of white sneak­ers was near­by.

The body was viewed by Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr. Ram­rat­tan, who or­dered it re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St. James.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors col­lect­ed cru­cial pieces of ev­i­dence at the crime scene, in­clud­ing 18 spent 9-mil­lime­tre shells, one live round, and a pro­jec­tile.

Po­lice said they have no mo­tive as yet for the mur­der.

Of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion, head­ed by Ag In­sp Ram­saran, Sgt Reid, along with Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion 3 Of­fi­cers led by Cpl Ra­moutar, are con­tin­u­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
