A 33-year-old man was shot and killed in Mara­bel­la on Mon­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said Kre­ston Phillips of Dol­ly Street, Bat­too Boule­vard and Union Road, Mara­bel­la, was shot around 8 am along Manohar Street. Of­fi­cers found Phillips ly­ing on the road­way with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds. He was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he died around 8.50 am.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Phillips had been walk­ing along In­dus­try Lane be­fore turn­ing on­to Manohar Street when a gold-coloured ve­hi­cle drove past him, stopped a short dis­tance away, and gun­shots were fired from the ve­hi­cle. The car then drove off.

Twen­ty-nine spent 9mm shell cas­ings were re­cov­ered at the scene.

Po­lice al­so re­trieved CCTV footage from the area.

Dur­ing the shoot­ing, a pass­ing ve­hi­cle was struck by gun­fire.

The dri­ver lat­er re­port­ed the dam­age at the Mara­bel­la Po­lice Sta­tion. Three pro­jec­tiles were re­cov­ered from that ve­hi­cle.

The mo­tive for the killing has not yet been es­tab­lished.
