Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the fa­tal shoot­ing of an uniden­ti­fied man whose body was found ly­ing in the mid­dle of Re­form Road, Ste Madeleine, late Tues­day night.

The dis­cov­ery was made around 10.55 pm by Es­tate Con­sta­bles at­tached to T&T Se­cu­ri­ty Ser­vices who were on mo­bile pa­trol in the area.

While trav­el­ling along Re­form Road, the con­sta­bles ob­served the mo­tion­less body, with what ap­peared to be a wound to the head and a spent shell near­by.

The con­sta­bles im­me­di­ate­ly con­tact­ed their su­per­vi­sors, who in turn no­ti­fied the Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion. First re­spon­ders ar­rived at the scene short­ly af­ter 11.15 pm.

Po­lice said the de­ceased ap­peared to be of East In­di­an de­scent, brown in com­plex­ion and in his ear­ly 40s.

He was de­scribed as be­ing of medi­um build, ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5’8 tall, with short, grey­ing hair on his head and beard and an oval-shaped face.

At the time he was found, he was wear­ing a green T-shirt, dark-coloured three-quar­ter pants, green rub­ber slip­pers and grey socks.

Crime Scene Of­fi­cers from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion Three, processed the scene and re­cov­ered sev­er­al items, in­clud­ing sev­en spent 9mm Luger shell cas­ings, two ap­par­ent pro­jec­tiles, one de­formed pro­jec­tile and a cel­lu­lar phone.

Up to late yes­ter­day, po­lice had not iden­ti­fied the de­ceased. In­ves­ti­ga­tors have al­so not es­tab­lished a mo­tive for the killing.

Of­fi­cers from the Ste Madeleine Po­lice Sta­tion and the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
