Police are investigating the fatal shooting of an unidentified man whose body was found lying in the middle of Reform Road, Ste Madeleine, late Tuesday night.
The discovery was made around 10.55 pm by Estate Constables attached to T&T Security Services who were on mobile patrol in the area.
While travelling along Reform Road, the constables observed the motionless body, with what appeared to be a wound to the head and a spent shell nearby.
The constables immediately contacted their supervisors, who in turn notified the Gasparillo Police Station. First responders arrived at the scene shortly after 11.15 pm.
Police said the deceased appeared to be of East Indian descent, brown in complexion and in his early 40s.
He was described as being of medium build, approximately 5’8 tall, with short, greying hair on his head and beard and an oval-shaped face.
At the time he was found, he was wearing a green T-shirt, dark-coloured three-quarter pants, green rubber slippers and grey socks.
Crime Scene Officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, processed the scene and recovered several items, including seven spent 9mm Luger shell casings, two apparent projectiles, one deformed projectile and a cellular phone.
Up to late yesterday, police had not identified the deceased. Investigators have also not established a motive for the killing.
Officers from the Ste Madeleine Police Station and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing enquiries.
