A man identified only as “Jay” was shot and killed during a suspected robbery in Arouca early this morning.
Police said the incident happened around 12:30 am on Sunset Drive, off First Street, Five Rivers. Officers on patrol along the Priority Bus Route were alerted by a man who reported the shooting and took them to the scene.
There, they found Jay lying face down in a pool of blood near house number 87. He had gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen.
Investigators were told that around 11:30 pm on Monday, Jay and his employer were walking along Sunset Drive when they passed a group of four men. The men reportedly attacked and beat them. The employer, who sustained minor head injuries, said he ran from the scene and while fleeing heard several gunshots and Jay shouting, “I get shoot.”
