A gunman opened fire on a La Romaine family on Wednesday night, shooting a labourer on both legs.
Investigators said around 7.45 pm the assailants, armed with a gun and a hammer, went to Hermitage Settlement Road, La Romaine, where they broke down the front door of a house. They then accosted two women who were inside the house. Police said while one of the men tied up the women, the gunman went into another room where he shot Isaac Datadeen, 58, in his legs while he lay on his bed. The bullet entered Datadeen’s left leg and exited through his buttocks. The assailants did not take anything from the house. Datadeen was later rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Police cordoned off the area on Thursday morning as they searched for clues into the identity of the assailants. San Fernando police are continuing investigations.
