A 42-year-old Valencia man was shot and killed by a lone gunman while liming at a bar on Old Valencia Road hours ago.
Police reported that around 8.05 pm, David Soogrim was liming at Bull Bull’s Bar along Old Valencia Road when he had an argument with another man. As Soogrim turned towards the barman to order a beer, however, the man he was arguing with pulled out a gun from his waist and shot him.
Soogrim was hit in the left side of his lower back and fell to the ground screaming in pain. The owner of the bar called the police and reported the incident.
Police from Valencia station responded and found Soogrim still alive when they got to the bar.
He was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital but died undergoing emergency surgery.
Homicide officers from Region II Arouca are currently processing the scene.
Soogrim’s body will be taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre, St James, for a post-mortem on Monday.
The murder pushed the total to 419 for the year.
