A 52-year-old man remained in critical condition yesterday following a chopping incident in Mayaro on Wednesday.
A woman was also injured in the attack.
Police said around 4 pm, Mukesh Ramkissoon of St Ann’s Village, and the 26-year-old suspect were involved in a heated argument that turned violent. The suspect chopped Ramkissoon on his head and body and threatened to kill him. The woman, Neisha Mohammed, 54, suffered minor injuries during the attack. Police officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
Ramkissoon was taken to the Mayaro Health Facility, where he was examined and transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital. Ramkissoon suffered multiple lacerations to his head, left thigh, left arm, back and left thumb.
Mohammed received injuries to the eye and ankle. She was listed in stable condition.
Police officers seized the cutlass.
