One man was killed and a sawed-off shot­gun seized dur­ing a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing at the Guayagua­yare Fish­ing Port in the East­ern Di­vi­sion on Mon­day morn­ing. 

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the Ma­yaro Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about a man armed with a gun in the Guayagua­yare dis­trict around 2 am on Oc­to­ber 27. 

On ar­rival, the of­fi­cers ob­served the man run in­to a wood­en struc­ture and re­trieve an ob­ject that ap­peared to be a firearm from un­der a bed. He al­leged­ly point­ed the weapon at the of­fi­cers, and sev­er­al click­ing sounds were heard. 

Of­fi­cers gave ver­bal com­mands for him to drop the gun, but he did not com­ply. In line with the Use of Force Pol­i­cy, they dis­charged their firearms, hit­ting the man. 

He was tak­en to the Ma­yaro Health Fa­cil­i­ty for treat­ment, where he lat­er died. The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Ains­ley Glenn Gon­za­les of Calma­pas Vil­lage, Ma­yaro. 

A sawed-off shot­gun was re­cov­ered from the scene.
