Although heavy rains started in San Fernando around noon, Mayor Junia Regrello is reassuring burgesses that the Corporation is ready to respond in case of emergency. He told Guardian Media a short while ago that about 200 sandbags have been filled and are on standby in the event of flooding.

Regrello said the councillors of the Corporation are out in the field and will be on standby for any distress calls. However, emergency shelters in the southern city have not been activated yet. Regrello said as of noon there had been no reports of flooding or weather-related incidents.

Burgesses living within the San Fernando City Corporation's boundaries who need assistance can call 800-SCDU (7238).
