Me­di­aRogers Group, op­er­at­ed by lead­ing Caribbean broad­cast­er and jour­nal­ist, Ju­lian Rogers, has an­nounced a se­ries of mul­ti­me­dia events com­mem­o­rat­ing the 50th an­niver­sary of the Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty (Cari­com) which be­gins to­day and ends on Wednes­day.

The three-day sched­ule of events in­cludes com­pre­hen­sive cov­er­age of the open­ing cer­e­mo­ny of the 45th Con­fer­ence of the Heads of Gov­ern­ment of Cari­com to­day.

The cer­e­mo­ny will fea­ture dis­tin­guished speak­ers such as host Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley; in­com­ing chair­man of the Com­mu­ni­ty, Do­mini­ca’s Prime Min­is­ter Roo­sevelt Sker­rit and Unit­ed Na­tions Sec­re­tary-Gen­er­al An­tónio Guter­res, who ar­rived on the pre­ced­ing day.

To­mor­row the broad­cast will com­mence at 8 am with flag rais­ing and tree cer­e­monies at Ch­aguara­mas, fol­lowed by Cari­com salutes from vis­it­ing heads of state and in­ter­na­tion­al in­sti­tu­tions ac­cred­it­ed to Cari­com.

No­table fig­ures in at­ten­dance will in­clude the Pres­i­dent of Rwan­da and US Sec­re­tary of State Antony Blinken.

The “Wit­ness To His­to­ry” se­ries, a col­lec­tion of ex­clu­sive in­ter­views, will show­case PJ Pat­ter­son, for­mer prime min­is­ter of Ja­maica, who was present dur­ing the sign­ing of the Cari­com Treaty.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, host Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley will share his per­son­al jour­ney as a Caribbean man and his de­vel­op­ment as the Prime Min­is­ter of the Re­pub­lic, re­flect­ing on his time at UWI in the ear­ly 70s when Cari­com was es­tab­lished.

Al­so, to­mor­row evening, view­ers and lis­ten­ers will be treat­ed to the An­niver­sary Gala from NA­PA, fea­tur­ing cap­ti­vat­ing per­for­mances by some of the re­gion’s top artistes. The gala broad­cast will be­gin at 6 pm.

The fol­low­ing evening, at 6 pm, the Cari­com lead­ers will hold a press con­fer­ence to share the fi­nal de­ci­sions from their cau­cus, pro­vid­ing valu­able in­sights in­to the out­comes of the con­fer­ence.
