Na­tion­al Co-or­di­na­tor of the Na­tion­al Sec­re­tari­at for the Com­mon­wealth Heads of Gov­ern­ment Meet­ing (CHOGM), Luis Al­ber­to Ro­driguez, is promis­ing "min­i­mum dis­rup­tions" to cit­i­zens dur­ing the his­toric three-day event in Port-of-Spain. He in­di­cat­ed that dur­ing yes­ter­day's break­fast news brief­ing at the In­ter­na­tion­al Fi­nan­cial Cen­tre (IFC) in Port-of-Spain. T&T will host the CHOGM from next week Fri­day to Sun­day. It will be at­tend­ed by more than 40 Heads of Gov­ern­ment from Com­mon­wealth states.

Ro­driquez said cit­i­zens would not have ac­cess to cer­tain streets in Port-of-Spain when the Heads of State were be­ing trans­port­ed to and from cer­tain events. On the ex­pect­ed vis­it to T&T by French Pres­i­dent Nico­las Sarkozy, Ro­driquez said the po­lit­i­cal di­rec­torate would make a state­ment on that at the ap­pro­pri­ate time. Ro­driquez said Queen Eliz­a­beth II and Prime Min­is­ter Patrick Man­ning were ex­pect­ed to de­liv­er ma­jor ad­dress­es at the open­ing of the CHOGM. (RL)
