National Co-ordinator of the National Secretariat for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Luis Alberto Rodriguez, is promising "minimum disruptions" to citizens during the historic three-day event in Port-of-Spain. He indicated that during yesterday's breakfast news briefing at the International Financial Centre (IFC) in Port-of-Spain. T&T will host the CHOGM from next week Friday to Sunday. It will be attended by more than 40 Heads of Government from Commonwealth states.
Rodriquez said citizens would not have access to certain streets in Port-of-Spain when the Heads of State were being transported to and from certain events. On the expected visit to T&T by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Rodriquez said the political directorate would make a statement on that at the appropriate time. Rodriquez said Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Patrick Manning were expected to deliver major addresses at the opening of the CHOGM. (RL)
