With the recent success of Miss Trinidad and Tobago Aché Abrahams at the Miss World Pageant in India still fresh on their minds, young women between the ages of 16 to 25 with an interest in representing this country on the world stage are being encouraged to come forward this weekend.
Pageant coach Richard Young said yesterday that the Miss World T&T will be screening young women for the local leg of the pageant.
Speaking on CNC3’s Morning Brew programme yesterday, Young said the franchise is looking for untapped beauty, as well as young women with a sense of purpose and drive to help others.
He added that the process is simple and assured would-be candidates that it’s not an inquisition but simply an opportunity to get to know them and for them to learn more about what it takes to be a Miss World representative.
Abrahams represented this country at the recent Miss World 2024 pageant in Mumbai, India, where she placed in the top four and won the title of Miss World Caribbean.
Young said the pageant is an excellent opportunity for young women.
“We need the young ladies to be grounded because humility and gratitude is very important in the process of the sharing of your beauty and the part of it where it can go to your head, you have to keep very centred and very balanced,” he said.
Screening for Miss World T&T takes place at the Hyatt Regency Conference Centre tomorrow.
Young said all are welcome and candidates are encouraged to walk with portraits and body shots. However, he said if a candidate does not have these, she is still welcome to screen.
