?Two more schools are re­port­ing con­firmed cas­es of the In­fluen­za A/H1N1 virus, com­mon­ly known as swine flu. The two schools are Clarke Rochard Pri­ma­ry in Pe­nal and Munroe Road Hin­du in Ch­agua­nas. De­vant Ma­haraj, of The In­do-Trin­ba­go Equal­i­ty Coun­cil, (I-TEC) con­firmed that the Hin­du school yes­ter­day re­port­ed the mat­ter to the Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha Ed­u­ca­tion Board. Ma­haraj said the Board had ad­vised teach­ers and par­ents to con­sid­er the Oc­cu­pa­tion­al Safe­ty and Health Act, which speaks to work­ing con­di­tions and take the ap­pro­pri­ate mea­sures to pro­tect them­selves and their stu­dents.

World Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WHO) guide­lines ad­vise teach­ers, stu­dents and oth­er staff, who fell ill, to stay at home. At the Clarke Rochard Pri­ma­ry School, Pe­nal, yes­ter­day, con­fir­ma­tion that a stan­dard two stu­dent had con­tract­ed the dis­ease, sent par­ents hur­ry­ing to re­move their chil­dren from the com­pound. School of­fi­cials con­firmed that the par­ents of the sick child in­formed them yes­ter­day morn­ing that re­sults of a test done on the pupil for the flu-like virus came back pos­i­tive. Prin­ci­pal Su­ru­jwat­tie Ali sub­se­quent­ly met with the 37-mem­ber staff and held a meet­ing with the PTA.
