A 47-year-old Morvant man was gunned down after a car stopped in front of his vehicle in Port-of-Spain early this morning.
Police said Wendell Walker alias 'Jamal' was driving his grey Mercedes Benz on the eastbound lane of the Audrey Jeffers Highway, near the Water Taxi Terminal around 1.10 am when a grey Mazda 6 drove in front of his car blocking him.
Two gunmen got out of the Mazda and shot Walker several times.
Officers of the St Clair police station received a report of gunshots and took Walker to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was declared dead.
Officers of the Port-of-Spain Division and crime scene investigators visited the scene and found 15 spent 9 mm shells and 18 spent 5.56 shells.
Walker's car was towed to the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) in Cumuto for further analysis.
Police said they received further information that Walker may have shot back at his killers during the attack but did not find any gun at the scene.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I are continuing enquiries.
