A Mor­vant man is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the hos­pi­tal af­ter he was struck while cross­ing the road on Tues­day.

Po­lice said the 57-year-old dri­ver of Thomp­son Trace, Mor­vant, was said to be in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion yes­ter­day.

The ac­ci­dent oc­curred around 8.30 pm on Oc­to­ber 21, in the vicin­i­ty of Pitch Road, La­dy Young Road, Mor­vant.

Po­lice said the dri­ver, who is from Pierre Road, Char­lieville, was pro­ceed­ing along La­dy Young Road when the vic­tim al­leged­ly ran across the road, whilst push­ing a wheel­bar­row of grass.

The dri­ver con­tact­ed the Emer­gency Health Ser­vices, who took the man to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he un­der­went sev­er­al tests and was in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion pend­ing fur­ther body scans.

Sev­er­al eye-wit­ness­es re­port­ed the vic­tim had been run­ning back and forth across the road, mov­ing re­cent­ly cut grass to the oth­er side of the road. - ALP
