An­gry mo­torists and com­muters tra­vers­ing the Ca­paro Val­ley Bras­so Road to the ar­eas of Tabaquite, Flana­gin Town, Mamoral and Bras­so would have to wait un­til Feb­ru­ary 2025 for some per­ma­nent re­lief from a land­slide.

Mo­torists com­plained that re­pairs to a land­slide in the vicin­i­ty of Mamoral Junc­tion is the cause for many de­lays and much dam­age to their ve­hi­cles. Mo­torists be­lieve that re­pairs to the 100-me­tre land­slide is tak­ing too long to com­plete.

The lo­cal gov­ern­ment rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the area of Ca­paro/Mamoral in the Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (CT­TRC), John Leza­ma, said res­i­dents should get some re­lief for Christ­mas.

He told Guardian Me­dia the project was start­ed by the Min­istry of Works in No­vem­ber 2023. How­ev­er, when the works com­menced, the landown­er to the south of the af­fect­ed road­way moved to stop the project. He said the project was restart­ed three months lat­er when the le­gal pa­per­work was sort­ed out be­tween the landown­er and the State.

Coun­cil­lor Leza­ma said the re­lo­ca­tion of a WASA wa­ter main was the hold up, and that WASA is un­der­tak­ing the re­lo­ca­tion and was ex­pect­ed to fin­ish lat­er this week.

“By the end of this week, this work is shut­ting down for the Christ­mas sea­son,” he said. “What I was told is that the con­trac­tor would be able to do some milling, not paving, to have the road in some sat­is­fac­to­ry con­di­tion.”
