Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram worries now that the Roopsingh Road Bridge has collapsed it will cause blockage of the La Cuesa River and pose a significant threat to the safety and well-being of the community. He’s calling on the Ministry of Works to clear the collapsed concrete base.
Ratiram worries that if the river is blocked it could cause flooding in nearby Joyce Road, Chandanergore, Korea Village, Bank Village Waterloo, and the wider Couva North community.
The opposition MP says he’s raised the issue with Minister of Works Rohan Sinanan before in Parliament, as far back as November last year.
Guardian Media has reached out to the Ministry of Works for comment.
