A police constable from the Arima Borough Corporation has been detained and is in police custody, after he allegedly attacked senior officers, earlier this week.
According to a police report, the officer is being investigated for allegedly using insulting language, disorderly behaviour, assaulting two people and resisting arrest.
Police said the charges stemmed from an incident in which the police constable allegedly had a confrontation with a senior officer—an ASP—during which there was an exchange of words, which then escalated to the point where the police constable allegedly punched the senior officer.
Other officers, who attempted to subdue the police constable, also were reportedly struck in the melee which followed.
Eventually, the man was subdued and taken to the Arima Police Station where he was arrested.
He is to be questioned by investigating officers.
