The murder toll has reached 501 after a man who was shot earlier this month succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night at the hospital.
According to a police report, Ancil Edwards was shot several times about the body on December 2 while walking along David Bloom Drive, Phase 5, La Horquetta.
He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope where he was treated and warded in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit but never recovered from his injuries.
An autopsy was expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre yesterday to determine the actual cause of death. No motive has been determined by investigating officers yet.
In an unrelated incident, two men who were shot in Carenage at about 10 pm on Wednesday are both warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
According to a police report, Dylan Charles, 28, and Isaiah Marcelle, 29, were liming along Neckles Drive when a car drove past them. The vehicle stopped a short distance away and an occupantcame out and opened fire on them. The gunman then got back into the vehicle, which sped off.
Both men were taken to hospital where Charles was said to be fighting for his life while Marcelle was nursing a gunshot injury to his leg but was in a stable condition.
Investigations are continuing.
