The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) says urgent electrical upgrade works will take place at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) from 6 am on Friday 19th September to 6 am on Monday 22nd September.
The works will affect one of the two major transformers on the EWMSC electrical grid and are aimed at improving reliability of the system.
During this period, the NCRHA says the following services will be postponed:
-Outpatient clinics on Friday 19th September
-Elective surgeries on Friday 19th September
-Radiology appointments, including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds and X-rays, for all three days
Patients with appointments on Friday will be contacted with new dates by Thursday 18th September. Those who do not receive a call are asked to phone 645-2629.
The authority says critical and emergency patients will continue to be treated at the EWMSC Emergency Departments. Persons requiring non-urgent care are advised to use district health facilities and health centres instead.
It adds that contingency plans are in place to ensure critical care remains uninterrupted.
