New strategic security measures will be deployed to prevent crime for the upcoming Christmas season for the business community, including supermarkets, and other shopping districts.
This as the board of the Supermarket Association met with Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith and members of his team, at Witco compound, in Mt D'or on Wednesday.
A statement from the Police Service said among the items discussed was the availability of officers for extra-duty; as well as the implementation of strategic security measures for the upcoming Christmas season.
Griffith and his team also discussed issues of white collar crime, illegal vending and the granting of firearm user’s license to members of the business community.
"The Association expressed a desire to work with the Police Service and the Commissioner; to promote safer spaces toward encouraging greater social and economic stability within Trinidad and Tobago," the statement said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Deodat Dulalchan, Acting Snr Supt Lindon Greenidge, of Fraud Squad, and Supt Erica Prieto, of the Municipal Police, were among the officers who attended the meeting.
