Rep­re­sen­ta­tive from the Na­tion­al In­sur­ance Board led by the Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor, Mrs. Niala Per­sad-Po­li­ah, met with the Chief Sec­re­tary of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) Far­ley Au­gus­tine to dis­cuss the sus­tain­abil­i­ty of the NI Fund and ap­proach­es to en­hanc­ing Fund sus­tain­abil­i­ty.

They al­so dis­cussed plans for the re­con­struc­tion of the NIBTT Mall in Scar­bor­ough, To­ba­go and the ex­pan­sion of NIBTT’s ed­u­ca­tion out­reach in To­ba­go, in­clu­sive of av­enues for fi­nan­cial lit­er­a­cy train­ing.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Na­tion­al In­sur­ance Board of Trinidad and To­ba­go (NIBTT), led by the Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor, Mrs. Niala Per­sad-Po­li­ah, met with the Chief Sec­re­tary and Sec­re­tary of Fi­nance, Trade & the Econ­o­my of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA), The Ho­n­ourable Far­ley Au­gus­tine, and a small con­tin­gent from the THA, on Thurs­day 17th Feb­ru­ary 2022 at the NIBTT’s Cor­po­rate Head­quar­ters in Port-of-Spain.

NIBTT’s team al­so com­prised the Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer – Busi­ness Ser­vices, Mr. Feyaad Khan, and the Ex­ec­u­tive Man­ag­er In­vest­ments, Mr. Navin Ra­jku­mar. Among the top­ics dis­cussed were the sus­tain­abil­i­ty of the NI Fund and ap­proach­es to en­hanc­ing Fund sus­tain­abil­i­ty, plans for the re­con­struc­tion of the NIBTT Mall in Scar­bor­ough, To­ba­go (in light of the Ur­ban Re­new­al Pro­gramme) and the ex­pan­sion of NIBTT’s ed­u­ca­tion out­reach in To­ba­go, in­clu­sive of av­enues for fi­nan­cial lit­er­a­cy train­ing.

In ad­di­tion to the Chief Sec­re­tary, rep­re­sent­ing the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly at the meet­ing were Mrs. Di­anne Bak­er-Hen­ry – Ad­min­is­tra­tor, Di­vi­sion of Fi­nance, Trade & the Econ­o­my; Mr. Anslem Richards – Chief Tech­ni­cal Ad­vi­sor and Mrs. Afeisha Mc Kain – Pro­gramme Co­or­di­na­tor, Fi­nan­cial Lit­er­a­cy Sec­re­tari­at.

The NIBTT looks ahead to fu­ture di­a­logue with the THA and to ac­tive­ly en­gag­ing with the As­sem­bly as we move these dis­cus­sions for­ward.
