Representative from the National Insurance Board led by the Executive Director, Mrs. Niala Persad-Poliah, met with the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Farley Augustine to discuss the sustainability of the NI Fund and approaches to enhancing Fund sustainability.
They also discussed plans for the reconstruction of the NIBTT Mall in Scarborough, Tobago and the expansion of NIBTT’s education outreach in Tobago, inclusive of avenues for financial literacy training.

Representatives of the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT), led by the Executive Director, Mrs. Niala Persad-Poliah, met with the Chief Secretary and Secretary of Finance, Trade & the Economy of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), The Honourable Farley Augustine, and a small contingent from the THA, on Thursday 17th February 2022 at the NIBTT’s Corporate Headquarters in Port-of-Spain.
NIBTT’s team also comprised the Chief Operating Officer – Business Services, Mr. Feyaad Khan, and the Executive Manager Investments, Mr. Navin Rajkumar. Among the topics discussed were the sustainability of the NI Fund and approaches to enhancing Fund sustainability, plans for the reconstruction of the NIBTT Mall in Scarborough, Tobago (in light of the Urban Renewal Programme) and the expansion of NIBTT’s education outreach in Tobago, inclusive of avenues for financial literacy training.
In addition to the Chief Secretary, representing the Tobago House of Assembly at the meeting were Mrs. Dianne Baker-Henry – Administrator, Division of Finance, Trade & the Economy; Mr. Anslem Richards – Chief Technical Advisor and Mrs. Afeisha Mc Kain – Programme Coordinator, Financial Literacy Secretariat.
The NIBTT looks ahead to future dialogue with the THA and to actively engaging with the Assembly as we move these discussions forward.
