A Gasparillo farmer was remanded into custody for tracing after appearing in court charged with rape.
Darnell Baird, 33, appeared before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor in the San Fernando First Court.
The charge alleged that he had sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent at Gasparillo on November 29, 2019. He was charged by WPC Seepersad.
Prosecutor Cleyon Seedan asked for an opportunity for a fingerprint trace to be done through the police database system to determine whether he had a criminal record. Baird admitted to having one previous conviction for marijuana possession. He was represented by attorney Ainsley Lucky.
The matter was adjourned to Monday.
