A 23-year-old man from Princes Town has been remanded into custody after being charged in connection with a home invasion that left a 24-year-old resident injured during the early hours of Saturday, May 30.
Police said the incident occurred around 5 am when the victim awoke in his bedroom and found a man armed with a knife. A struggle broke out and the victim sustained minor injuries before the suspect fled.
Officers from the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department and the Princes Town Police Station responded to the scene, carried out enquiries, and interviewed witnesses in the area.
The suspect was later found a short distance away and arrested. He was identified by the victim, police said.
The suspect appeared before Master Sookraj Goswami at South Court A on Friday, June 5, where he was not called upon to plead.
Bail was denied and a scheduling order was issued. The matter has been adjourned to December 18.
Man with 191 warrants among six held in
Sangre Grande
A 44-year-old man who was the subject of 191 outstanding maintenance affiliation warrants was among six people arrested during a police exercise conducted in Sangre Grande and Valencia.
The operation ran from Thursday to Friday and ended around noon.
It was coordinated by Snr Supt Etienne and Insp Calender, and supervised by Ag Sgt Babwah. The team included PCs Pope, Miranda and Khan, along with WPC Modeste of the Warrant Section at the Sangre Grande Police Station.
A total of six people were arrested during the exercise. This included three individuals from Sangre Grande: a 44-year-old man of Rampersad Trace, Vega de Oropouche, who had been evading police in relation to 191 warrants; a 52-year-old of La Aurora; and a 34-year-old of Foster Road.
Also arrested were a 32-year-old man of Palm Road, Valencia, and two 27-year-olds from the Eastern Main Road, Valencia.
In total, 196 warrants were executed during the exercise.
Police said the operation was incident-free.
