The Nurs­ing Coun­cil of Trinidad and To­ba­go has agreed to have its ed­u­ca­tion com­mit­tee re­view sub­mis­sions made by the Col­lege of Sci­ence, Tech­nol­o­gy and Ap­plied Arts of Trinidad and To­ba­go (COSTAATT) for its ad­vanced cer­tifi­cate in nurs­ing as­sis­tant pro­gramme.

In a press re­lease, the in­sti­tu­tion said they both made the agree­ment dur­ing meet­ing yes­ter­day. 

Last week, the Nurs­ing Coun­cil ad­vised COSTAATT that the pro­gramme must not com­mence, as the col­lege did not ob­tain the re­quired ap­proval.

With the new se­mes­ter about to be­gin, COSTAATT in­formed at least 17 reg­is­tered stu­dents that the ad­vanced cer­tifi­cate in nurs­ing as­sis­tant pro­gramme has been post­poned un­til fur­ther no­tice.

Ac­cord­ing to COSTAATT both par­ties pledged to con­tin­ue work­ing to­geth­er in the in­ter­est of stu­dents who will ben­e­fit from train­ing in this es­sen­tial area of nurs­ing.

COSTAATT added that the meet­ing con­firmed it has con­sis­tent­ly fol­lowed all due process­es and has main­tained writ­ten com­mu­ni­ca­tion with both the Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Coun­cil of Trinidad and To­ba­go (ACTT) and the Nurs­ing Coun­cil since Feb­ru­ary 2024, when the pro­gramme pro­pos­al was sub­mit­ted.
