The Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago has agreed to have its education committee review submissions made by the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) for its advanced certificate in nursing assistant programme.
In a press release, the institution said they both made the agreement during meeting yesterday.
Last week, the Nursing Council advised COSTAATT that the programme must not commence, as the college did not obtain the required approval.
With the new semester about to begin, COSTAATT informed at least 17 registered students that the advanced certificate in nursing assistant programme has been postponed until further notice.
According to COSTAATT both parties pledged to continue working together in the interest of students who will benefit from training in this essential area of nursing.
COSTAATT added that the meeting confirmed it has consistently followed all due processes and has maintained written communication with both the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and the Nursing Council since February 2024, when the programme proposal was submitted.
