Police Sergeant Roger Williams, who was shot dead on Chinatown, Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain last week, was laid to rest yesterday.
Sergeant Williams was given full military rites during a funeral service held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
The officer's service was then taken to the Tunapuna Cemetery for burial where he received military honors of a twenty-one gun salute.
Williams served the TTPS for 30 years, and who was last assigned to the Court and Process Branch.
Last Saturday, the officer who was off duty at the time, along with a vegetable vendor were killed along Lower Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain, after a gunman opened fire on a Beetham man who managed to escape with minor injuries.
Sgt Williams died at hospital minutes after the shooting, while vendor Natoya Christian collapsed on the pavement and died metres away from the stall she operated with her grandmother.
No one has been held for the crime.
