Cedros police constable Russell Bedasse has resigned, accusing colleagues of ignoring his missing person report after his mother vanished last week.
He last spoke to 57-year-old Shelawaithie “Meera” Bedasse around 8 am on September 23, but when calls went unanswered, he alerted Cedros Police.
Despite this, he claims no urgent action was taken, forcing him to investigate on his own.
Around 6 am the next day, her body was found hanging from a tree, with poison and broken tablets recovered nearby.
Bedasse insists the scene was staged as suicide, criticising officers for their indifference, while ACP Michael Pierre says enquiries will be made.
