The Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion (CED) has tem­porar­i­ly sus­pend­ed op­er­a­tions at the Pt. Lisas and Port-of-Spain Con­tain­er Ex­am­i­na­tion Sta­tions, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment from the Di­vi­sion.

Of­fi­cials ex­plained that the sus­pen­sion is nec­es­sary to fa­cil­i­tate on­go­ing in­fra­struc­tur­al works at both lo­ca­tions.

The CED said mea­sures have been im­ple­ment­ed to main­tain con­tain­er through­put, sus­tain the pace of con­tain­er ex­am­i­na­tions, and con­tin­ue sup­port­ing the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty dur­ing this pe­ri­od.

The agency apol­o­gised for any in­con­ve­nience caused by the ser­vice sus­pen­sion.
