Parents of Standard Three students attending the La Brea Anglican School took their children back home this morning due to unhealthy conditions in their classroom. Cindy Trim explained that they the building is moldy. She said the area where the children is being housed was recently painted and they were told to bring the children to school this morning.

However, she said the paint still needed airing out and they were told to return with their children tomorrow.

But, Trim said there is barely any furniture in the classroom and as they were leaving they got an awful scent in the area of the classroom.

Trim complained, "In coming out the space there was a pungent scent like a cesspit scent or a pig-sty scent, you don't know what is it is but clearly it is not feasible for my child or anybody else child in that particular class to be housed in that area so we asking for some assistance from the Anglican Board, from those in authority if they could come and help us."

She intends to speak with the principal but she will not be sending her child to school until the issues are addressed. Trim said the principal is trying his best.

"But as I said coming out of the space there is a very pungent scent. Children with asthma and respiratory diseases cannot be in that said space so we decided to take our children back home. So for the few parents who bought out our children we are now taking our children back home because the area is not suitable, it is not equipped there is no benches, desks or chairs anything and the scent is not feasible for housing children in that area. A lot of children will end up with respiratory diseases or respiratory illness on top of a pandemic, on top of wearing masks because of the condition."

She suggested that the Standard Three children continue online classes or that they move to a community centre until the issues are sorted out.
