Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to a vi­o­lent home in­va­sion in Clax­ton Bay, in which close to $70,000 in cash and valu­ables were stolen, leav­ing a 71-year-old pen­sion­er in­jured and his 68-year-old rel­a­tive trau­ma­tised.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 7.30 am on Tues­day, the vic­tims heard some­one mov­ing in­side their home on Hi­bis­cus Dri­ve. Up­on in­ves­ti­gat­ing, they found three men in their kitchen—one armed with a firearm, and two in black hood­ies.

The two un­armed ban­dits be­gan as­sault­ing the male vic­tim, leav­ing him se­ri­ous­ly in­jured. The ban­dits then stole a gold-coloured chain val­ued at $25,000, a gold-coloured ring val­ued at $8,000, and $26,000 in cash. They al­so took two pairs of Jor­dan sneak­ers worth US$235 and US$210 in cash.

From the fe­male vic­tim, the sus­pects stole one gold chain, four gold bracelets val­ued at $5,000, and a US$250 Sam­sung mo­bile phone with­out a SIM card.
