Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley says there is no need for him to apologize to the Opposition Leader or resign over the 'Emailgate' fiasco.
Dr Rowley was responding to the announcement yesterday by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) that it has officially closed the investigation.
Making it clear he will not go down the Opposition’s “rabbit hole”, the prime minister accused the UNC of “twisting” the “facts” as is outlined in the file handed to the TTPS by the Director or Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to Dr Rowley, the DPP’s file clearly states that the “evidence gathered didn’t not reach the threshold” to lay charges against persons involved.
This, he said, proves that there is evidence, but not enough.
Furthermore, Dr Rowley said the DPP’s file shows that this matter can not be confirmed nor denied given the nine-month gap between the start of the investigation and the date of when the alleged emails were sent.
