Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley MP is expected to participate in a series of meetings with members of the United States Congress today, Wednesday 27th April 2022.
An official statement from the Office of the Prime Minister notes that today’s meetings are part of an overall mission to advance “the interests of Trinidad and Tobago”.
The Office of the Prime Minister also reports on the Prime Minister’s meeting with former US Senator, Chris Dodd, in Washington DC, Tuesday 26th April 2022, noting that these further discussions followed their meeting in Barbados, last week.
Former Senator Dodd was appointed by US President Joseph Biden as the Special Advisor for the Summit of the Americas, which will be held in Los Angeles in June.
Also present at the meeting between PM Rowley and Special Advisor Dodd was Barbara Feinstein, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US Department of State.
In addition, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young MP; and Ambassador to the US and Mexico, Anthony Phillips-Spencer, Brigadier General (Ret’d.), accompanied the Prime Minister.
On Sunday 24th April 2022, Dr Rowley departed for the series of meetings scheduled to take place in Washington DC, this week. Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert MP, is acting as Prime Minister until Dr Rowley's return.
