Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley has as­sured that the gov­ern­ment will leave no stone un­turned to find out what led to the deaths of 8 ba­bies at the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Sev­en of those ba­bies died be­tween April 4th and April 7th as a re­sult of neona­tal sep­sis, while the 8th ba­by died on March 16th.

Speak­ing at the Of­fi­cial Open­ing of the new San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal Cam­pus a short while ago, Dr Row­ley said he was "par­tic­u­lar­ly sad" be­cause of the sit­u­a­tion.

He said for some peo­ple, it might be an op­por­tu­ni­ty to lay blame but be­fore that can be done, he sim­ply wants to know what hap­pened at the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

He called on the pop­u­la­tion to await the out­come of the in­de­pen­dent in­ves­ti­ga­tion which is be­ing con­duct­ed by the Pan Amer­i­can Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion (PA­HO).
