Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar continued her longstanding tradition of spiritual fellowship and community engagement by making nine stops at Hindu temples across her constituency on the sacred night of Sunday into Monday in observance of Maha Shivaratri 2026.
A statement from the Officer of the Prime Minister said she was warmly welcomed by residents and devotees at each location—communities she has faithfully visited for more than 20 years during her service as Member of Parliament for Siparia. It said throughout the night, the Prime Minister offered words of encouragement and gratitude to attendees and extended heartfelt wishes for Lord Shiva’s blessings upon all present and upon the nation. She also encouraged parents to continue instilling strong moral values in their children, emphasising that education remains the most powerful pathway out of poverty and the foundation for building responsible citizens and a stronger society.
The Prime Minister, who was joined by various Local Government representatives from the area, concluded her final visit after 2 am yesterday.
