The People’s National Movement (PNM) will pause all campaign activities during Thursday’s SEA exam to avoid disrupting students.
In a statement, the party said the pause will run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on 10 April across all 41 constituencies, covering the hours students will be sitting the exam.
Further instructions have been given to campaign teams to stop using music trucks from 6 p.m. on Wednesday until 3 p.m. Thursday, to ensure children have a quiet environment to prepare and rest before the exam.
The PNM said it remains committed to all citizens, “including and especially our young people who carry the promise of our shared Trinbago future in their hearts and within them.”
The party added, “The PNM wishes all of our brilliant students clarity of mind, a sense of calm, and every success in the 2025 SEA.”
Yesterday, the Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Education, Research and Technology called on all political parties to avoid campaign-related noise and activity in the lead-up to the exam. It proposed a 24-hour quiet period beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday to support students as they revise and rest.
“A quieter atmosphere will go a long way in helping students remain focused, well-rested, and emotionally balanced,” the Division said.
It also urged campaign teams, event organisers and members of the public to be mindful of noise levels around schools throughout the week.
