The Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment spent last night fi­nal­is­ing its slate for the up­com­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions with at least two can­di­dates in the San Fer­nan­do City Cor­po­ra­tion be­ing re­placed.
Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that in­cum­bents for the  Gulf View/La Ro­maine An­der­son Williams and Mara­bel­la West La-Verne Smith were ini­tial­ly cho­sen dur­ing a pre­vi­ous screen­ing at the PNM’s South Re­gion­al Of­fice in San Fer­nan­do weeks ago.

How­ev­er, new de­vel­op­ments have seen new can­di­dates be­ing screened for the po­si­tions yes­ter­day evening.

Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Min­is­ter Kaz­im Ho­sein con­firmed that the fi­nal screen­ing for can­di­dates to con­test elec­toral dis­tricts in the north­ern re­gion­al cor­po­ra­tions was com­plet­ed at Bal­isi­er House on Thurs­day.

Yes­ter­day, the fi­nal can­di­dates for the elec­toral dis­tricts in San Fer­nan­do and Princes Town re­gion­al cor­po­ra­tions were done.

Ho­sein, who is the PNM elec­tion co­or­di­na­tor for the San Fer­nan­do Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion said the screen­ing process has gone along smooth­ly.

He was con­fi­dent that all nine elec­toral dis­tricts in the City would re­turn to the Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment.

Dr Kei­th Row­ley showed up for the screen­ing but de­clined an in­ter­view.

Up to yes­ter­day, no date has been giv­en for the elec­tions.
