Po­lice of­fi­cers stopped a rob­bery in progress and ar­rest­ed two sus­pects while seiz­ing a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 2 pm on Sat­ur­day, of­fi­cers at­tached to the Siparia Po­lice Sta­tion on mo­bile pa­trol along the Siparia Old Road, pro­ceed­ing to­wards Fyz­abad when on reach­ing the vicin­i­ty of the area known as “the teak”, when they ob­served a Toy­ota Field­er­wag­on dri­ving in a sus­pi­cious man­ner. The ve­hi­cle came to a stop and the 51-year-old dri­ver ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle, ap­proached the of­fi­cers and in­formed them that he was be­ing robbed by two oc­cu­pants in his ve­hi­cle.

The of­fi­cers ap­proached the ve­hi­cle and saw two sus­pects a 34-year-old Venezue­lan na­tion­al and a 32-year-old Trinida­di­an from Wood­land. When the of­fi­cers searched the ve­hi­cle they found a re­volver and six rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion. The two sus­pects were ar­rest­ed and the of­fi­cers took pos­ses­sion of the il­le­gal items.
