Police are investigating another murder in Petit Valley and the discovery of three bodies over the last two days.
Murder in Petit Valley
A 35-year-old man was gunned down in Petit Valley on Thursday night. He has been identified as Daniel Gowrie also known as Danny Boy, 35, of Upper Stoer Drive.
Police said at about 11.39 pm Gowrie was at his home when three men dressed in police uniform with their faces partially covered with bandanas went to his home and called him outside shouting “Police, police.” Gowrie’s mother opened the door and allowed the men to enter.
The masked men ordered Gowrie to lie down on the floor, handcuffed him and took him outside in the yard where they opened fire on him.
Gowrie’s mother told police she ran outside when she heard the gunshots and found her son lying under a street light in front of their home.
She also saw a grey Rav4 driving away.
Gowrie died on the scene.
Decomposing bodies found
Two decomposing bodies were found in Lopinot and Arouca yesterday morning.
Police said at about 9.45 am, a passerby discovered a body off the Saddle Road in a bamboo patch in an isolated area near the junction of Saddle Road and the North Coast Road, popularly known as “The Pillars”. Insp Maraj, Sgt Hosein and PC McClean along with other officers went to the scene.
The man’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition, clad in a blue denim shirt, blue underpants and a pair of brown rubber slippers.
Police suspect that the body may be that of a missing person from the Port-of-Spain Division who was reported abducted on Monday.
In the unrelated incident, at about 7 am the decomposing body of a man bearing chop and stab wounds was found near a garden between Windy Hill and Lopinot in Arouca.
Body discovered in Maraval
The body of a man was found wrapped in bedsheets and in a drain in Maraval on Thursday afternoon.
The man who was suspected to have been murdered is yet to be identified.
Police said at about 4.15 pm a passerby while walking along Camille Street saw the body in a drain near the intersection of Anderson Terrace and Camille Street.
Upon arrival police found that the man’s head and chest were also covered with yellow plastic bags.
Police said the victim seemed to be in his early 20s. The head bore several gaping wounds. Both hands were crossed on the chest area and bound with duct tape around the chest and back. The feet we’re also bound with duct tape and placed in a yellow plastic bag.
