Police have launched an investigation into Wednesday's incident which resulted in the roof of a San Fernando home being blown off allegedly by a helicopter.
The Picton Street, Diamond Village family say their roof was blown off by a National Security helicopter hovering, close to their roof during an exercise.
However, speaking on the Morning Brew on Thursday TTPS public information officer Sgt Wayne Mystar said: "I actually spoke to the pilots personally and they indicated to me they weren't low enough to cause that kind of damage."
"I also called the co-pilot separately and he indicated the same thing, that they weren't low enough. So I guess we'll have to launch an investigation and look into it a little closer and see...if we have any other witnesses to come forward."
But speaking to Guardian Media on Thursday, Geeta Laldeo said there are many witnesses who can corroborate her family's story. She said all of her neighbours witnessed the incident and can attest to it.
Laldeo confirmed that three officers visited her home on Thursday but indicated that they would send a representative from social welfare to further assess the situation.
She admits she was pleased with the timely response of the officers to their plight.
The family claims a National Security helicopter was helping police to locate suspects who fled into Laldeo's property following a high-speed chase early Wednesday.
Laldeo’s daughter Sunita Katwaroo, 30, a doubles wrapper, said the helicopter hovered above for about 15 minutes, circled around the area and then hovered over their house for another 20 minutes.
