Police are investigating acts of vandalism at the Carapichaima West Secondary School during the Republic Day holiday on Wednesday night.
An estate constable with the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited (MTS) was on duty at the school around 11:00 p.m. when he reportedly heard noises coming from the northern side of the compound. After checking the area, he found nothing unusual.
When he returned to his security booth, however, he discovered that 16 pages from an MTS desk diary had been torn out and defaced with pen markings.
Additional papers were also scattered across the booth.
Elsewhere on the compound, three garbage bins were overturned and their contents strewn near the administrative offices.
Several classroom doors had been forced open, with a number of hasp and staple latches broken. Despite the damage, no items appeared to have been stolen.
Officers PC Tull, PC Ali, and Phillip from the Freeport Police Station responded to the scene and conducted inquiries, including canvassing for CCTV footage to assist in the investigation.
PC Tull is leading the investigation.
