Relatives of rescued kidnap victim Josh Quashie on Monday thanked Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith and his team for their "excellent work."
Speaking with the Guardian Media at his Montrose, Chaguanas home on Monday night, a relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Quashie was "dropped off here by the police."
"I didn't want to ask him too much because he just said that he was blindfolded and I was told that the police went way inside Carenage to get him but the most important thing is that he is with us alive," the relative said.
"This is a very dangerous thing and it is not over yet. The police are still doing their investigations and it is very sensitive, something that we cannot talk too much on because what if whoever behind it from right around here, close by?" the relative said.
Quashie, who is a father of three, went to visit his girlfriend when Guardian Media called.
"He is very happy to be free and alive," the relative said.
Guardian Media understands that officers of the Special Operations Response Team successfully extracted Quashie from a house in the hills of Carenage. Police confirmed that a $100,000 ransom had been demanded but did not confirm if any payment was made by relatives.
However, police acting on intelligence and were able to rescue Quashie, who is said to be traumatised.
