A Bon Air woman, along with her nine-month-old daugh­ter, had to be res­cued on Thurs­day af­ter her for­mer com­pan­ion kid­napped and locked them in a house in Tu­na­puna for sev­er­al hours.

Po­lice said the woman had arranged to meet her ex-boyfriend and the fa­ther of her ba­by to col­lect some items.

The vic­tim and sus­pect met along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route in Cau­ra at 2 pm on Feb­ru­ary 20.

The woman and the sus­pect had pre­vi­ous­ly en­joyed a five-year re­la­tion­ship but broke up. The woman left their shared home five months ago, leav­ing be­hind some of her be­long­ings, in­clud­ing her sewing sup­plies and equip­ment.

The vic­tim told po­lice the sus­pect asked to hold their daugh­ter when he ar­rived and as she hand­ed him the ba­by, he be­gan to threat­en to kill her and her present boyfriend.

Fol­low­ing this, the sus­pect stopped a maxi and or­dered the vic­tim in against her will whilst still hold­ing on­to the child.

The trio came out of the maxi at Camody Street, St Au­gus­tine, fol­low­ing which the sus­pect took the vic­tim to his home, where he kept them both for sev­er­al hours.

On­look­ers alert­ed po­lice. The woman and child were even­tu­al­ly res­cued by of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna Po­lice Sta­tion who were on pa­trol in the area.
