Po­lice res­cued a Bon Air woman and her nine-month-old daugh­ter on Thurs­day af­ter her ex-part­ner kid­napped them and locked them in a house in Tu­na­puna for sev­er­al hours.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, the woman had arranged to meet her ex-boyfriend, the fa­ther of her child, to col­lect items for a sewing job. He al­leged­ly told her to wait along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route, Cau­ra, at 2 pm on 20 Feb­ru­ary.

The two had been in a five-year re­la­tion­ship be­fore break­ing up five months ago. Af­ter leav­ing their shared home, the woman left be­hind some be­long­ings, in­clud­ing sewing sup­plies and equip­ment.

The vic­tim told po­lice that when her ex ar­rived, he asked to hold their daugh­ter. As she hand­ed him the ba­by, he threat­ened to kill her and her cur­rent boyfriend. He then stopped a maxi-taxi, forced the woman in­side against her will, and held on­to the child.

The sus­pect took them to his home af­ter they got out the maxi at Camody Street, St Au­gus­tine, where he kept them for sev­er­al hours.

On­look­ers alert­ed the po­lice, and of­fi­cers from Tu­na­puna Po­lice Sta­tion, who were on pa­trol in the area, res­cued the woman and her child.
