Police blocked off parts of Siparia around midday on Saturday as they hunted for a paedophile who raped a 14-year-old girl after meeting her on social media.
The rapist remains at large but police said they have a clear description of him. Investigators said the girl of Palo Seco told police that she met the man online and after months of speaking to him she agreed to meet him for the first time in the pavilion.
However, the man cajoled her to go downstairs of the pavilion where he tied her up and sexually assaulted her. After the attack, he left her tied up and walked off. However, someone who heard the girl's screams alerted the police and a manhunt was launched. The girl was taken for a medical examination after her parents were contacted.
Police are warning parents to be cautious about their children's activities online.
