Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Task Force seized a firearm, am­mu­ni­tion and mar­i­jua­na dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise yes­ter­day.

The fol­low­ing is an of­fi­cial press re­lease on the in­ci­dent.

“One firearm, a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion, and mar­i­jua­na plants were found by of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion Task Force dur­ing an Op­er­a­tion Strike Back ex­er­cise yes­ter­day, Mon­day 12th Ju­ly 2021.

Based on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, sev­er­al search­es were con­duct­ed in the Bel­mont area. Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, the of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to an area along St Barbs Road, Laven­tille, and car­ried out a search on an aban­doned struc­ture.

Dur­ing the search, PC Gan­goo found one black and sil­ver pis­tol and a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing nine rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion and a white plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 14 rounds of as­sort­ed am­mu­ni­tion.

As the ex­er­cise con­tin­ued, the of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to a bushy area along St Barbs Road where over 100 mar­i­jua­na seedlings and plants were dis­cov­ered. The plants and seedlings were seized and de­stroyed.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Yusuf Gaf­far and Snr. Supt Ter­rence Nobbee, spear­head­ed by W/Supt Lan­cast­er- El­lis and Supt Kisson­lal, ASP Cum­ber­batch and In­sp Knott, su­per­vised by Sgt. Alexan­der, Cpls, Sookhoo, Mod­este, Thomas Hug­gings, and W/Ag Cpl. Fer­nan­do.”
