A 39-year old man was arrested after a quantity of ammunition and a firearm were found during an operation in Laventille this morning.

According to police reports, based on information received, officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force and the K9 Unit conducted several searches in Port of Spain. During one of the searches, 15 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition were found at a residence at Old St Joseph Road, Laventille.  A 39-year older man was arrested.

K9 ‘Hify’ alerted the officers to a particular area of the building. The officers used a sledge-hammer to remove the concrete.

One colt 45c pistol containing seven rounds 40 calibre ammunition was found and seized, along with four rounds of ammunition which were found in a plastic container.
