A Ma­yaro man was killed by po­lice dur­ing an al­leged con­fronta­tion on Mon­day at the Guayagua­yare Fish­ing Port, af­ter he re­port­ed­ly point­ed a gun at of­fi­cers.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man as Ains­ley Glenn Gon­za­les, of Calma­pas Vil­lage, Guayagua­yare Vil­lage, Ma­yaro.

Of­fi­cers re­port­ed­ly went to the Guayagua­yare Fish­ing Port around 2 am and saw Gon­za­les stand­ing out­side.

Po­lice said up­on see­ing the of­fi­cers, Gon­za­les turned and ran in­to a wood­en struc­ture on the premis­es.

Of­fi­cers said Gon­za­les was sit­ting on a bed and point­ed a gun at them, fol­low­ing which sev­er­al click­ing sounds were heard.

Po­lice said Gon­za­les ig­nored sev­er­al ver­bal in­struc­tions from of­fi­cers for him to put down the gun, and in keep­ing with the TTPS Use of Force Pol­i­cy, of­fi­cers fired sev­er­al rounds at Gon­za­les, hit­ting him about the body.

Gon­za­les col­lapsed and was tak­en quick­ly to the Ma­yaro Health Fa­cil­i­ty, where he was pro­nounced dead at 2.38 am.

Po­lice said a sawed off shot­gun was re­cov­ered at the scene.
