Investigations were ongoing yesterday evening as police sought to determine the motive behind the murder of Proman employee Ricardo Diaz.
Diaz, 51, a procurement manager, was found shot dead inside a vehicle along Rivulet Road in Couva on Thursday.
Reports state that around 4.45 pm, a motorist travelling along Rivulet Road noticed a black BYD Sealion 7 stalled in the eastbound lane near National Energy, causing traffic disruption.
The motorist approached the driver’s side to offer assistance, but on getting closer, discovered Diaz slumped over into the passenger seat and bleeding from apparent gunshot wounds.
The vehicle’s windows were down, and several spent shells were seen on the roadway. Crime scene investigators later recovered ten spent shells and a projectile at the scene.
Police said Diaz had been employed at Proman’s warehouse for the past five years and was promoted to head of department six months ago.
He was last seen by colleagues leaving the compound about 15 minutes before his body was discovered.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, are continuing inquiries.
